The client
Headquartered in Broomfield, Colo., Lignetics is a private equity-owned manufacturer of upcycled wood pellets. Its consumer brands include home heating, animal care and bedding, and barbecue products.
The challenge
In its pursuit of long-term growth and profitability, Lignetics seeks acquisitions of smaller regional wood waste businesses, most of which have on-premises technology systems, making integration complicated and risky. As a result, Lignetics was experiencing frequent disruptions, downtimes, and unpredictable costs due to aging infrastructure and multiple IT service providers. Company leadership recognized this as a barrier to its ambitious growth goals and needed a centralized, secure, and scalable technology platform, as well as affordable and trustworthy technology monitoring and support.
The solution
We began by performing an IT assessment of Lignetics’ existing technology environment. We identified several opportunities for improvement and road-mapped an IT strategy that would increase functionality, security, and scalability. To accomplish these goals, we:
- Migrated data storage, network, and infrastructure to the cloud.
- Adopted and implemented the Microsoft 365 platform to improve day-to-day operational activities like secure email and collaboration.
- Established a centralized 24/7 technology support system to troubleshoot and resolve issues regardless of geographical location or time zone.
But we didn’t stop there. The technology ecosystem we built was designed with growth in mind, but technology alone couldn’t eliminate the challenges associated with new acquisitions. That’s why, to support Lignetics’ continued expansion, our professionals have provided on-site, day-one support and onboarding services to each newly acquired business. Our interdepartmental approach means that all staff — from IT to HR to the C-suite — understand the new systems and are positioned for success.
The benefit
With our help, Lignetics has become the largest consumer-focused wood pellet manufacturer in the United States. Some additional benefits of our services have included:
- Steady and sustainable portfolio growth. Lignetics has grown from about 50 employees to more than 500, with minimal disruptions to day-to-day operations.
- Predictable, manageable costs. As Lignetics’ trusted advisor and sole-sourced IT partner, our end-to-end services eliminate the need for additional technology support, vendor negotiations, or unnecessary IT staff increases.
- An adaptive, secure, and scalable technology platform. With seamless ERP deployment across locations, ongoing monitoring and issue resolution, and enhanced data collection and analytical capabilities, Lignetics can focus on its continued growth, confident that all its technology needs are expertly managed.
