As a live music fan, I attend about 15 concerts a year and have been to more than 10 festivals — the kind that involve sleeping in a tent for 3–4 days and seeing dozens of bands. My favorite bands include the Grateful Dead and Phish.

Experience

As a partner with the firm’s National Tax Office, I’m responsible for tracking and informing clients and staff of current tax developments and addressing emerging tax issues.

I specialize in all aspects of purchase and sale transactions for private equity funds, portfolio companies, and privately held businesses. I also lead the firm’s tax accounting methods practice where I specialize in the proper application of and changes in tax methods of accounting.

Clients appreciate that I communicate complex tax issues and solutions in a manner that the non-specialist can easily grasp. With my deep industry knowledge, they count on me to maximize their tax-savings opportunities while minimizing their risks and headaches.

I frequently speak at business, accounting, and legal events on tax considerations in mergers and acquisitions and other new and emerging tax issues. I’ve also authored articles on similar topics in Michigan-based legal journals and TAXES–The Tax Magazine (published by CCH). I belong to the Michigan Association of CPAs, the National Association of Manufacturers, and the AICPA where I participate on the Accounting Methods and Periods Technical Resource Panel. I received my B.S. and M.S. in accounting and from Michigan State University.
