Micah Wheat

I’m proud to serve on the Tax Leadership Team overseeing our Illinois and Ohio offices. In this role, my primary responsibilities are client service and team development. Additionally, I serve on our service industry group leadership team focusing on business services and professional organizations. I advise and assist my clients in the implementation of tax strategies, including methods of accounting, multi-state tax planning and compliance, planning for liquidating events, and year-end tax planning. I also manage complex compliance engagements by coordinating with the overall engagement team, including assurance, National Tax Office, and tax solutions group members.

In my role as office managing partner of our Chicago Riverside office, I focus on developing and growing the firm’s Chicago office staff, as well as supporting the office’s practice development efforts. With more than two decades of experience in the accounting industry, I’m known by my clients and colleagues for my straightforward approach to tax consulting and my ability to communicate even the most complex matters effectively. Overall, my goal is to be a true advocate for my clients.

In 2024, I was selected as a Crain’s Chicago Business Notable Leader in Accounting, Consulting, and Law. The list honors Chicago-based professionals serving in leadership roles who are making a significant impact within their profession and their communities.

I have a B.S. in accounting and a B.B.A. in finance from the University of Kentucky, an M.S. in taxation from the University of Cincinnati, and a J.D. from DePaul University.

When I’m not in the office or serving clients, I enjoy golfing, traveling to new places, boating on Lake Cumberland, and spending time with friends and family.
