Don Bowden became the first American to run a sub-4:00 mile in 1957. I became the 317th American to do so in 2009.

Experience

As a tax partner in our financial services group, I specialize in providing tax compliance, consulting, and structuring services to private equity and venture capital funds. By working closely with fund managers and their principals, I look for tax planning opportunities that optimize the return on investment.

Clients count on me to advise them on tax-efficient structuring and to meet the needs of their investors. My goal is to help fund managers make informed decisions based on the tax implications at both the investor and general partner level. Driven by an interest in transactions and fast-paced engagements, my clients appreciate that I not only meet deadlines but also focus on integrating tax strategies and ideas to help achieve meaningful financial results.

The collegial atmosphere of Plante Moran is what impresses me most of the firm. I’ve witnessed colleagues go out of their way to help one another solve challenges and navigate the intricacies of the tax code. As a partner, I’m proud to carry on that tradition and guide staff with their practice development efforts.

I belong to the AICPA, MICPA, the New York State Society of CPAs, and the Michigan Venture Capital Association. I hold a B.A. in economics from the University of Michigan and a M.S. in accountancy from Walsh College.

Outside of work, I enjoy staying active. I try to find time for basketball, running, biking, lifting weights and, especially, being on the lake.
