My clients appreciate that I genuinely have their best interests at heart. Assisting the foreign company clients with getting their business up and running from an accounting and tax perspective has been very rewarding. Many of the U.S. companies are family-owned businesses, and I’ve enjoyed developing strong relationships with the families. I’ve always been a compassionate person, so when my clients are feeling stress, I’m right there with them helping them figure out solutions. They know I’ll do what it takes to resolve any issue as their trusted business advisor.
My colleagues know I’m passionate about helping the next generation. I enjoy being involved in the career planning of less experienced staff, including mentoring and advising, as well as the recruiting of new staff to the accounting profession. My mentoring style is based on understanding and trying to help people realize their value. At Plante Moran, we often say, “the whole person comes to work,” and I consider that in all my interactions with others.
With more than 15 years at Plante Moran, my greatest accomplishments are the relationships I’ve built with both staff and clients. I’ve had the great experience of helping more than one staff member go from being counseled and receiving tough guidance to improving and being promoted.
I belong to the MICPA. I’ve spoken about the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act at the MICPA and presented on the CARES Act and other COVID-19-related tax topics at the CFO Now networking group. I received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees with a focus in tax from Michigan State University.
When I’m not at work, I love to travel around Michigan with my husband and two daughters. Some of my favorite places are Mackinac Island, the Upper Peninsula, Frankenmuth, the Detroit Zoo, and any cider mill. I love to read and listen to music and podcasts.
