I lead Plante Moran’s family office services group and co-lead the private equity venture capital fund practice in Chicago. I am also one of the firm’s senior real estate tax partners. I serve as a strategic advisor to ultra-affluent families, family offices, private equity/venture capital funds, and mature private businesses. I advise clients on buying, selling, and investing in private businesses and real estate; the formation of family and investment limited partnerships, family offices, and private foundations; and income tax and transaction planning.
I have written articles for numerous publications and have been on the speaker faculty for the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA), the Family Office Exchange, The Family Office Forum, Illinois Venture Capital Association (IVCA), and others. I have also been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg Wealth Manager, the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, Washington City Paper, Crain’s Chicago, and Family Wealth Report. I have received both my B.S. and M.B.A. from the University of Illinois. I am a member of the Chicago Estate Planning Council, the Illinois Venture Capital Association, the Thought Leaders Council of the Family Office Exchange, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois CPA Society, and the JUF Professional Advisory Committee, having served as chairman.
