Andrew Apsey
Principal CPAExperience
As a principal in the energy tax practice and commercial practices group, I specialize in tax compliance, planning, and consulting services for private equity-backed and closely held business owners. My expertise includes energy tax credits, business mergers and acquisitions, succession planning for family-owned businesses, corporate and business tax return planning, and like-kind exchange planning. Clients depend on my availability and responsiveness to implement effective tax strategies and ideas.
With more than 15 years of experience, I’m passionate about numbers and the opportunity to provide value through strategic tax planning. Around the office, I’m known for my dry sense of humor and wit.
I earned a B.S. in business administration from Central Michigan University, and I hold a CPA certification. I actively participate in several professional organizations, including the AICPA, MICPA, MOGA, and serve as the vice president of the Michigan chapter of the Council of Petroleum Accountants Society. I’m also a frequent speaker on tax-related matters. My most recent presentation was on the Inflation Reduction Act for one of our Plante Moran webinars. In addition to my professional commitments, I’m a board member of the Traverse City Kiwanis Club, which focuses on developing youth-based initiatives in the greater Traverse City area.
When I’m not working, you can find me on a boat, bike, or skis, depending on the time of year. My wife, two boys, and I enjoy spending our free time outdoors, exploring the many scenic locations northern Michigan has to offer.
