As an assurance professional within our government and renewable energy practices, I help clients meet their financial reporting needs and obligations. I serve clients ranging from large cities, counties, and special purpose governments, including retirement systems and airport authorities to renewable energy producers, developers, distributors, and project finance companies.
I help clients comply with the latest developments in financial reporting and grant compliance, while also strengthening their internal controls, optimizing allocation of resources, responding to industry trends, and capitalizing on new opportunities in the marketplace. I have expertise in both FASB and GASB accounting pronouncements, the Uniform Guidance related to federal grant compliance, and tax equity financing models for renewable energy projects.
I started my career in personal financial planning and commercial lending, but after exploring an opportunity in public accounting with Plante Moran, I quickly learned this is where I wanted to be. The opportunity to remain engaged and challenged while helping clients meet their organizational challenges — along with the relationships I have developed over the years — is what keeps me here. I enjoy staying on top of new accounting standards, identifying ways to communicate the changes to my clients, and helping them implement them as they surface. In the over 10 years I’ve been with the firm, some of my greatest accomplishments are helping to launch and grow our airport and renewable energy practices.
I regularly publish articles and speak at various industry conferences regarding trending financial reporting topics. I’ve also shared my expertise in firm-sponsored trainings and podcasts. I belong to the AICPA, the Michigan Association of CPAs, Airports Council International – North America Finance Committee Steering Group, Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services Planned Giving Advisory Council, and the Detroit Economic Club Young Leaders. I received my B.S. in finance and my dual M.B.A. and M.S. in finance from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
