Curious what it’s like inside one of the nation’s largest professional services firms — and one of its best places to work? Each year, we hire more than 300 interns — top college and university students in the fields of accounting, finance, consulting, technology, and more — for a two-to-three month learning experience within Plante Moran.
Many firms have internship programs. So what's the big deal about ours?
Real-world projects and impact. Although each internship is slightly different, most interns work on actual client projects, getting a real feel for the profession, the firm, and our clientele. You’ll meet with clients, seeing firsthand how what we do — and how we do it — directly affects their businesses.
A high percentage of our interns receive full-time offers with the firm. And more than 25 percent of our current partners had internships with us, including several former managing partners.
Variety. You’ll be exposed not only to our audit, tax, consulting, and wealth management practices but also to the many industries we work in. And we actively encourage interns to connect with staff and partners across the firm to learn more about the range of opportunities — some you may not realize exist.
Professional development. We evaluate interns against a defined set of competencies, which is similar to the evaluation process of our staff and partners. You’ll receive feedback from staff at all levels and gain a clear sense of how you’re doing — and how you can grow.
We also hold midterm interviews with interns to ensure your experience is a valuable one. If something needs to be tweaked, we’ll work with you to make the changes necessary. At the end of your internship, you’ll have a chance to present, individually or as a group, to staff and partners to share all you’ve gained.
Networking and collegiality. Finally, you’ll get to attend our Intern Summit, a firmwide gathering for interns, to reconnect, network, learn, and volunteer to help the local community. Interns regularly cite this as one of their favorite parts of their experience.
A high percentage of our interns receive full-time offers with the firm. And, among our current partners, more than 25% had internships with us, including several former managing partners. We think those results speak for themselves.
