The Michigan Association of CPAs (MICPA) recently featured Plante Moran partner and MICPA member Kris Ray following her recognition as a Crain’s Detroit Business Notable LGBTQ Business Leader.
The article discusses Kris’ work to bring visibility to the LGBTQ community within the accounting profession, including her involvement creating the firm’s first staff resource group, PM Pride, over 10 years ago as well as her public speaking engagements with MICPA targeted toward students and prospective accounting professionals.
“Recognizing LGBTQ business leaders is not an area where my community has received much recognition or visibility,” says Kris. “With any diverse group of people, visibility is key. We’re not going to get diverse students to go into accounting unless they see themselves represented in the profession.”
Kris has been with the firm since 2002 and works out of our Southfield office as the technical leader of the firm’s not-for-profit practice.
