Headshot of Paul Edwards

I might be in a white-collar business, but I don’t own a white dress shirt. It’s a small but meaningful thing I do on purpose to set the tone that I can take a relaxed approach, even when tackling serious business matters.

Experience

Described as an out-of-the-box accountant by my clients, I have more than 20 years of experience advising an array of manufacturing and distribution businesses.

I lead the firm’s food & beverage industry group and my client base includes family and private equity-owned, closely held manufacturing companies. Our group is known for introducing clients to opportunities that expose them to the full power of the firm. Clients see that we offer ideas beyond traditional audit and tax compliance work, which, in turn, have created new opportunities for client growth and staff development. With my experience in the firm’s higher education practice, I also advise colleges and universities.

I have a vested interest in helping people. While I wasn’t cut out to be a doctor, I found that public accounting provides me the perfect opportunity to serve others in my own unique way. My clients find that I have a strong tax background, so I’m not your typical auditor. I’m also known for promoting my clients’ products in the office by providing energy shots, a bounty of nuts and snack mixes, and an occasional sip of whiskey.

I love spending time with my wife and two daughters. Chances are if you can’t find me golfing or enhancing my biking skills, I’m discovering a new restaurant or making plans for our next family vacation.

I’ve spoken at conferences for the Michigan ACG chapter and the Capital Roundtable in New York on issues impacting private equity-owned businesses. I’m a member of the AICPA and the Michigan Association of CPAs, and I serve as an advisory board member for 100 Businesses Who Care. I received an accounting degree from the Eli Broad School of Business at Michigan State University.
