Adding new services or redeveloping senior care takes a balance of the right model of care, right operational model, and the right resources to be successful. Knowing you have great experience by your side will bring you piece-of-mind and reduce the chance of unforeseen pitfalls.

Experience

As a principal at Plante Moran Living Forward, Steve leverages his more than 25 years of operational leadership in the senior living and care industry to help clients with senior living asset repositioning projects, strategic planning, and operational consulting engagements.

Throughout his career, Steve has led campus repositioning projects, greenfield development from planning through start-up, and operational turnarounds resulting in organizational growth. He has proven experience coaching clients’ leadership with stabilizing their business in critical times.

Steve has a rich background in strategic planning at a site and system level. By providing clarity to vision, goals, and measures, he helps organizations move into a strong position for growth and development. In addition to the strong operational background, Steve has led the construction of communities across the continuum: skilled long-term care and short-term rehabilitation, independent living, assisted living, memory care, and senior townhomes.

Formerly a chief operating officer and executive of several large senior care organizations, Steve has led site and corporate teams at all levels, giving him a unique balance of operational performance and project management experience. From business development, daily operations, financial management, and strategic planning to construction oversight and tactical strategy implementation for site-level and system-level integration, Steve’s experience provides a successful pattern of ongoing operations, delivering on new services, and repositioning service lines to meet changing consumer needs.

Steve is a graduate of Moorhead State University with a Bachelor of Science in education. He is Health Service Executive (HSE) certified by the National Association of Long-Term Care Administrator Boards and is licensed in multiple states as a nursing home administrator. He has extensive experience in physical plant operations and has held a State of Minnesota Class C engineer’s license for more than 20 years.
