Plante Moran Realpoint Investment Advisors, the real estate asset management firm affiliated with Plante Moran and Plante Moran Realpoint, welcomes two executives back to the firm: Zach Brown and Matt Rust.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., April 8, 2025 — Plante Moran Realpoint Investment Advisors (PMRIA) is pleased to announce the return of Zach Brown and Matt Rust to the firm as senior vice presidents. Both former Plante Moran staff, Brown and Rust bring a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the real estate market to the firm.

“PMRIA continues to see an increasing demand for sophisticated, strategic guidance in navigating complex real estate investments and portfolios,” said Zack Otte, president of PMRIA. “Zach and Matt’s expertise and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to grow our team and enhance our service offerings to meet this market need.”

Zach Brown joins PMRIA as a senior vice president. He will leverage his more than 11 years of experience in private equity real estate investing to provide strategic, transactional, and asset management services to real estate investors, primarily focusing on ultra-high-net-worth and family office clients. In addition to his prior experience with PMRIA, Zach has held roles representing both real estate operators and investors, working in both asset management and acquisition capacities. Throughout his career, he has been directly involved in the oversight of millions of square feet of retail, office, and industrial assets as well as dozens of multifamily communities. He graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and political science and earned a Master of Public Administration and Juris Doctor from the University of Akron. He is admitted to practice law in Ohio and is a licensed real estate agent in Michigan. He is a full member of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association.

Matt Rust joins PMRIA as a senior vice president. He will leverage his more than 15 years of experience in real estate advisory and institutional asset management to enhance PMRIA’s direct investment business. Rust rejoins the firm after spending eight years in New York City at Brookfield Asset Management, a leading global investment firm with more than $1 trillion in assets under management, where he held investment and portfolio management roles in the real estate business. Matt brings extensive institutional experience to PMRIA, having played key roles in high-profile transactions, including Brookfield’s $11 billion take-private acquisition of Forest City Realty Trust. He also managed privately held real estate portfolios exceeding $1 billion in value. He began his career in Plante Moran’s commercial real estate practice, focusing on financial analysis, transaction structuring, and investment strategies for corporate and institutional clients. Rust holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan and earned academic honors as a member of the Men’s Varsity Ice Hockey team. He represented the United States in international ice hockey competitions and was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

PMRIA offers a full suite of real estate asset management capabilities, including real estate portfolio strategy, transaction advisory, and asset oversight. According to Otte, “Zach and Matt’s return is a reflection of our team’s continued growth and commitment to delivering exceptional client service.”
