The challenge
Link Engineering, a leading global manufacturer of transportation engineering test equipment, wanted to consolidate two of its existing facilities into one location, while still allowing room for growth.
The solution
Link Engineering engaged Plante Moran Realpoint (PMR), formerly Plante Moran Cresa, to review the feasibility of consolidating the company’s research and development facility and headquarters into a single location with room for future expansion.
After a thorough review of available options, PMR advised Link Engineering that purchasing one 130,000-square-foot building aligned more closely with the company's current and future business plans better than leasing two separate buildings.
The benefit
To meet Link Engineering's timetable, PMR assisted in locating and leasing an appropriate new building until the purchase agreement was completed. PMR acted as independent buyer’s representative during the site selection and was able to effect the procurement of a MEGA incentive worth approximately $780,000 over seven years along with a tax abatement.
